How can an author reveal more information about a character

Authors usually reveal characters through direct or indirect characterization. In direct characterization, the author says something about the character directly, for example Sally has blond hair. Indirect characterization is more interesting. This is when we learn about the character through their actions, likes, dislikes, reactions, opinions, etc.
