The Sahara desert with its vastness and harshness, as well its stretching from the eastern to the western coasts, has been a natural barrier for people for thousands of years. Because the desert limited the movement of the people from north to south, and vice versa, they were separated and with minimal contact, so over time developed totally different cultures.
