How might an unwillingness to seem weak lead some people to take unnecessary risks?

I believe the answer is: people take unnecessary risks when they are more afraid of being called cowards than of behind injured.

This perception come from people's need to maintain their value/position at the social group. Often time, this perception is actually not true because most of the time people could if other people choose to step back and re-think their approach for a problem
