You can get a fine.. or put into jail. It can also lower your credit scores, which decreases your changes of getting a car, house and credit cards...

If you fail to pay your annual taxes, the IRS would give you a failure-to-file penalty which basically contains various consequences. Additionally, if you continue to not pay the taxes, your properties may be seized, your passport may be revoked, you may be charged for tax evasion, and the IRS could claim your property.
