how do i isolate x in 4x - 2y = 22?

4x - 2y = 22

Start by adding 2y to both sides

4x = 22 + 2y

now divide by 4

x = 22/4 + 2y/4

Reduce to get

[tex] x = \frac{11}{2} + \frac{y}{2} [/tex]
