The sum of two consecutive odd integers is -48. Find the two integers

odd integers are a tricky thing to write. we represent an odd integer by writing it as 2x+1.

so consecutive odd integers are actually separated by 2, so we have 2x+1 and 2x+3.

sum means add them up!

[tex]2x + 1 + 2x + 3 = - 48[/tex]
combine like terms and solve!
