Step One

Find the slope first

Formula

m = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1)

Givens

y2 = 5

y1 = 2

x2 = 3

x1 = - 3

m = (5 - 2)/(3 - - 3)

m = 3 / 6

m = 1/2

Step Two

Find the y intercept.

Use (5,3) [It does't matter which point you use]

y = (1/2)*x +  b

5 = 1/2*3 + b

5 = 1.5 + b

5 - 1.5 = 1.5 - 1.5 + b

b = 7/2

Answer

y = (1/2)x + (7/2) or

y = 0.5x + 3.5
