Whenever you are describing a character, you use as many adjectives as possible. You must also use information from the text to help as well. For example, in the specific passage, one could say that Tom is surly, impatient yet witty, and interesting. This can be seen when he....(and state the specific information in the text where he shows himself with these traits).
