When the cell is in the phase of interphase, what does it do? And why?

Interphase is where a typical cell spends most of its life. During this phase the cell copies it’s DNA to prepare for mitosis. It does this so there’s a set of DNA for the daughter cell after it divides and mitosis has occurred.
