A proportion is a part of an amount compared to the total amount.
Example:
Lets’s say you’re awake 16 hours in a day
You spend 8 hours at school
And the rest of your time changes day to day.
Therefore the proportion of time you spend at school when you’re awake is 8/16 or simplifying, 1/2.
