4x - 3 < -5

Answer: x < -1/2

Step-by-step explanation:

First Rearrange the equation by subtracting what is to the right of the greater than sign from both sides of the inequality :  4x-3-(-5)<0

Then pull out the factors,  4x + 2 = 2(2x + 1)  

Then divide both sides by 2,    x+(1/2) < 0

Lastly substract 1/2 from both sides and that is how you get  x < -1/2

4x < - 5 + 3

4x < - 2

x < - 2 / 4

x < - ½
