Ribosomes are small particles that consist of RNA and associated with proteins that function to synthesize proteins. Proteins are needed for important cellular functions such as repairing damage or directing chemical processes. The nucleus is important for controlling gene expression and meditating the replication of DNA during the cell cycle. Hope this helps ;)
