Convert to range button can be used to change the table to cell.

To convert table to cell, use the below procedure:
Way 1:
- Go to Table Tools, then "Design option" on the Ribbon.
- In the Tools group, click on the option "Convert to Range".
Way 2:
- Right-click on the table, use the shortcut menu
- Click Table and then use Convert to Range option
A table can be changed back to cell and vice versa. A cell can be converted to table by splitting in to rows and columns.
