What makes a law unconstitutional?

One thing that may make a law unconstitutional would be to do things like make a law that would make it so the government was too powerful and make it so we couldn't overthrow it by lets say taking away our rights such as taking away our freedom of speech. There is a lot of ways a law can be considered or made unconstitutional.
