To find the percentage first put
$9.50
———-
$10.75

And put the variable (of your choice) in this case
P
———. P= the percentage out of 100
100

Then cross multiply
9.50 P
——— x ——-
10.75 100

(9.50 x 100)= (10.75 x P)

950= 10.75P

Then isolate the variable p

950
——— = P
10.75

The estimated quotient is 88= P
Then subtract 88 from 100

The approximate answer is 22
