         P1 V1 = P2 V2

P1 = 3.7atm

V1 = 5.8L

V2 = 2.5L

Equate the values to the equation and solve for P2:

P2 = P1 V1 / V2

P2 = 3.7 * 5.8 / 2.5

P2 = 21.46 / 2.5

P2 = 8.584 atm

The new pressure acting on the balloon is therefore 8.58atm
