Explanation:

To calculate the distance, the equation would be:

distance = acceleration X time² / 2

Assuming the stone is held at a complete stop before dropping, the acceleration would be equal to gravity which is 9.8m/s².  So:

d = (9.8m/s²)( 6s)² / 2

   = (9.8m/s²)(36s²) / 2

   = 176.4 m
