so it would look like [tex] \frac{ 2^{6} }{ 2^{2} } [/tex] then you can subtract 2 from 6 and get 4 so the initial simplified exponent would be [tex] 2^{4} [/tex] and that is 2 x 2 x2 x2 so it would be 16
