Why were Native Americans more likely to die from the diseases the European settlers brought to America than the settlers themselves?

Because it was a disease that their bodies haven't experienced yet and their bodies were weak.

The natives didn't evolve a natural immunity to the European diseases just yet. While the Europeans themselves had already developed a natural immunity from living with those diseases longer.
