What ideas shaped japan's religion and government?

Historically Japan has been predominantly Shinto and Buddhist. Since WWII The U.S has forced and perpetuated capitalism in Japan, and dismantled the shinto influenced government but Buddhism and shinto are still dominant religions and influence many aspects of culture.
