How would life have been different in the 1800s if the steam locomotive had not been invented?

the difference would be that if they did have the locomotive then the people in the 1800's would have been able to carry out there crops and resources and now we probably wouldn't even have train's that help us a lot in life so yeah that with I think but it's interesting. I want you to tell me what you think would happen and I don't think any awenser are wrong I hope it helps XD.
