Use this equation of ratios to determine the unit price of a pound of rice:

--------  =  -----------
11 lb.            x

-------  =  -----------
   $7             $1

Cross multiplying, (11 lb)($1) = ($7)x

Divide both sides by $7 to obtain the value of x, the number of pounds of rice per dollar.
