[tex] \frac{-1+- \sqrt{1-+ 1^{2}-4 * 2 * (-5) } }{2*2} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{-1+- \sqrt{1+40} }{4} [/tex]

so the answers are

[tex] \frac{-1 + \sqrt{41} }{4} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{-1 - \sqrt{41} }{4} [/tex]
