Why are forms of political communication harmful and useful?

Political communication can be both harmful and useful, since on the "useful side" they can allow for coordination between candidates and the people who are working for their campaigns, but on the "harmful side" these communications can be between large money donors and the candidates, which can lead to a conflict of interest and affect the candidates message.
