(x , 5/2)......so y = 5/2.....so do some subbing

y = x - 1/2
5/2 = x - 1/2....add 1/2 to both sides
5/2 + 1/2 = x
6/2 = x....reduce
3 = x

now check it...(3, 5/2)
y = x - 1/2
5/2 = 3 - 1/2
5/2 = 6/2 - 1/2
5/2 = 5/2 (correct)

so x = 3 <==
